Toulouse coach gets Hull KR job
Toulouse
coach Justin Morgan has been appointed coach of National League side
Hull Kingston Rovers.
The Australian-born Welsh international has guided the French club
to the semi-finals of the Powergen Challenge Cup where they will face
Leeds Rhinos.
Morgan succeeds Harvey Howard and will take up a two-and-a-half-year
contract after the semi-final game.
He will spend a week at the club before Sunday week's
Northern Rail Cup final with acting coach James Webster.
After that he will spend a couple of days a week in
Hull and the rest of the time in France until the end of his Toulouse
commitments for the season.
Morgan has vowed to put one of the British game's fallen
giants back on the map.
"It's exciting to be involved with a club with
such an impressive history. They are very proud of that past, but
what has impressed me most about the people at the club is that are
looking forward and aiming to reach those heights again.
"It's been a difficult decision to leave Toulouse,
but when I saw the professionalism and the dicrection that Hull KR
were going I couldn't refuse."
Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell revealed the appointment
had been made on the recommendation of Leeds coach Tony Smith and
new St Helens boss Daniel Anderson.
"Justin's technical knowledge, his burning ambition
to succeed and a desire to work at all levels of the club from the
scholarship upwards are all attributes to admire," he said.
"He has excellent references from two of the most
respected coaches in the game, Tony Smith and Daniel Anderson, and
his background is of the highest pedigree."
