Musharraf vows resolution of ‘artificial’ crisis of flour in days

KARACHI: President Pervez Musharraf Monday said that the flour crisis is artificial and it would be resolved in the next few days with the help of Rangers and army. He said the government has taken concrete steps to check smuggling, due to which the country faced the shortage of the commodity. He, however, said the prices of essential commodities in Pakistan are lower as compared to the neighbouring countries. He was speaking at the inauguration of Pakistan Steel flyover and Bin Qasim Industrial park projects in Karachi on Monday. President emphasized the need for maintaining the current economic growth to make future of the country prosperous and stronger. President said that industrial growth is essential for the alleviation of poverty and unemployment. He said during the past five years, the country had witnessed significant reduction in the poverty level. He said that the establishment of small and medium size industries will help increase employment opportunities and strengthen the national economy and added that the communication network plays an important role in the growth of industrial sector, and the government is fully focussing on it. He emphasized the need to promote the dairy farming, fruit processing, garments and other industries President said level playing field has been provided to foreign and domestic investors. President Pervez Musharraf reiterated that the forthcoming elections would be held in free, fair and transparent manner. He said all measures have been taken for the holding of elections in a peaceful manner. President said the government will cope with the menace of terrorism and extremism in an effective manner. He expressed the confidence that due to the measure taken by the government, such incidents would not occur. President on this occasion announced two bonuses for the employees of Mill.
