US will not back Indian attack against Pakistan: McCain
NEW DELHI: The United States will not support any military campaign against Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai terrorist attacks, US Senator John McCain said on Tuesday. In response to repeated questions whether Washington will back India’s possible military action against Pakistan, McCain, who arrived in New Delhi, said an emphatic ‘no’ to such an adventure. “No, we don’t have any hard evidence of Pakistani government’s involvement,” he told a press conference after meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. McCain said he, along with other Republican leaders, would also travel to Pakistan to talk to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. iftikhar gilani
