Pakistan holds the key to present crisis: U.S daily

WASHINGTON: Pakistan holds the key to the present crisis and the best way to salvage Pakistani democracy and to prevent a slide towards war between two nuclear powers, is for Islamabad to shut down Lashkar-e-Tayyaba and similar organisations “swiftly, permanently and verifiably”, said an editorial in a U.S. newspaper on Tuesday. While Pakistan should enjoy U.S. support, both from this administration and the next, it should only do so to the extent that it presents not only credible plans for accomplishing this goal but also tangible results, the newspaper stresses. It quoted Condoleezza Rice’s statement on Monday, who said that "this is a time for complete, absolute, total transparency and co-operation. And that's what we expect".
