UN works on 90 days winter plan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 04 : The United Nations is working on a ninety days winter plan to ensure emergency, relief measures including provision of food and nutrition, and access of water supply and sanitation to the affected people in the quake affected areas.

Under this plan, one hundred thousand more tents would be supplied in these areas to save lives. Over twenty three thousand emergency shelter kits have so far been distributed with the assistance of Pakistan Army among the affectees so that the affectees can build their shelters.

The UN has also set up thirty camps to accommodate thirty six thousand people . New sites have also been identified to establish more camps to provide shelter to two hundred and fifty thousand people during the next six months.

Meanwhile relief and rehabilitation efforts are underway, the Federal relief commission has provided five hundred ninety-three thousand tents, four point five million blankets and quilts, sixty thousand tons of ration, sixteen hundred tons medicines and tons of miscellaneous items in the affected areas through one thousand helicopter sorties so far.
