Police on high alert for Bugti backlash
KARACHI: In reaction to Nawab Akbar Bugti’s
death in an operation on Saturday, all major cities including Karachi,
Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar have been put on high alert, senior police
sources said. Security was enhanced at all government installations.
“We are expecting to face three types of reactions to this news,”
an official said. “One type is going to come from political
parties, the second from Baloch sympathisers and the third –
the worst – is expected to come from tribal elements such as
the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA),” he said. On Sunday,
police and other law enforcement agencies would devise a strategy
to deal with any untoward incident. staff report
