Pakistan, Greece inked Cultural exchange agreement
ISLAMABAD April 25 : Wishing to further friendly relations
and close cooperation in the fields of Education, Science, Culture,
Youth and Sports, a agreement was signed between the government of
Pakistan and the government of Greece for the years 2005-2007 here
Mnday.
The cultural exchange agreement was signed by Jalil
Abbas, Secretary for culture, sports and youth affairs on the behalf
of Pakistan, while Christos Lachopoulos, Secretary of Greek Ministry
of Culture affairs.
Both countries agreed to extend cooperation in the fields
of education and science by encouraging cooperation between the universities
in both the countries and to cooperate in the fields of archives and
Libraries. Pakistan and Greece would also promote co-operation between
their competent Archeological services and restoration of the cultural
and historical heritage of the two countries.
Shedding lights on the history, cultural agreement between
Pakistan and Hellenic (GREECE) was signed on 16 December, 1976. in
pursuance of that agreement, cultural exchange (CEP) between the two
countries are being drawn regularly. The last agreement was signed
on December, 1995.
The said Greek delegation also called upon Muhammad
Ajmal Khan, Federal Minister for sport and culture and discussed matters
of mutual interest. The Minister said that Pakistan and Greece has
close culture and historical relations and signing of the said agreement
would further strengthen the ties between the two.
It is the positive and bold step of the government of
Pakistan and Greece to sign cultural exchange agreement. But the most
important thing is the implementation of the agreement and we will
try our level best to implement the said agreement and expect the
same from Greece government.
