The visit was part of Congresswoman Sanchez’s outreach to all community members, including Muslims, in her district. During her visit, the Congresswoman learned more about the needs and concerns of American Muslims. She promised to continue working on addressing the community’s concerns. She also emphasized the importance of the community’s participation in the political system as a step toward positive change.

At the end of her meeting, Hussam Ayloush, Executive Director of CAIR-LA, gave Congresswoman Sanchez an overview of CAIR’s work, activities and future plans. He briefed her on CAIR-LA’s recent projects, including the Library Project, Billboard Campaign, and Voter Registration Drive.

The Congresswoman was also given a tour of the CAIR office and was introduced to members of CAIR’s staff and interns. “It is important for our community to continue being involved in the political process by voting and getting to know their representatives to affect positive change for our society,” said Ayloush.
